Everyone loves an underdog, which is what makes Eva Fricke’s wines all the more lovable.
Fricke grew up in a region of Germany better known for its beer than wine, into a family of doctors. After rejecting the notion of med school and interning at various notable wineries around the world (namely, Pingus in Spain and Chateau Cissac in France), she settled back in what is known as one of the most tightly-knit winemaking communities in Germany: the Rhinegau. In a region dominated by family legacies and professional networks, Eva Fricke blazed her own trail and has quickly become one of the most well respected modern riesling producers in the country.
Her prolific lineup of rieslings are a masterclass in terroir expression. She focuses on displaying the vast diversity of the Rhinegau, specifically the results of the sandy, loamy soils to the north, versus the slate and quartzite soils to the south.
