Fleurie native Yann Bertrand switched career paths to follow in his father’s winemaking footsteps. He learned his craft from the likes of Jean Foillard and Yvan Metras, and now farms his 9 hectares of old vine Gamay all organically, with some biodynamic principles implemented. ‘Phenix’ comes from 40-year-old vines and is aged in a combination of barrel and demi-muid. Wine is bottled unfiltered by gravity and in conjunction with the lunar calendar.
