Although the Marquis d’Angerville was unsure for a while, Pélican finally decided to produce a varietal Pinot Noir in 2018 -- and we can’t praise it enough! Fruit for this Jura Pinot grows in ‘éboulis calcaires’ (fallen limestone) and gray marl soils, then ages in barrel and vat (no new oak). Earthy and medium-bodied, the wine shows flavors of red fruit, cranberries and toasted bread, with mineral-laden undertones shining through on the finish.
