Now under the care of the second generation, Arnaud and David, Domaine Roland Lavantureux is adherent to quality and mindful of image. And if there's a bottle on the books to prove it, it's Vaudesir. This grand cru site sits in a natural amphitheater, with a double exposure and Kimmeridgian soils that also contain a significant amount of clay. 2019 was a hot vintage, but it's not evident in the zesty mineral backbone here. With thoughtful oak aging there are also some ashen, toasty notes. Drink now or hold for a couple of decades — it's got that level of promise.
