Domaine de Villaine — founded in the 1970s by Aubert de Villaine, also general manager of Domaine de la Romanee Conti — is the antidote. This Bouzeron-based winery is under the same guard as DRC, but the wines come at a fraction of the cost and are from some of the most exciting appellations in the Côte Chalonnaise.
