For a taste of Conterno on a budget, look no further than the estate’s two varietal Barbera cuvées. ‘Cerretta’ comes from its namesake vineyard and 2008 was the family’s inaugural vintage here. Mineral-laced notes of black plums, rosemary, earth spice, and balsamic dominate the wine’s high-toned palate. This is Barbera in one of its finest forms.
