Giulia Negri took over a well-established Barolo property at the young age of 24, just after returning from a life-changing trip in Burgundy. She returned to Piedmont with an ambition to form her palate and learn all of the ins and outs of winemaking. After years of releasing microcuvées under her own label, she finally took over the estate’s vineyard management in 2014. Her vineyards are situated at soaring altitudes (536 meters above sea level) in La Morra, which is one of Barolo’s top growing sites for Nebbiolo. ‘La Tartufaia’ Barolo is crafted from organically farmed Nebbiolo and is aged for 24 months in Slavonian oak. The wine is approachable and fruit-forward, marked by traditional flavors of cherry, rose petals, leather, and wet earth. The wine gets its name from the former truffle fields planted on the property by her grandfather.
