Chartogne-Taillet is the only RM producer in the village of Merfy, located just four and a half miles north of Reims. Today, the winery is headed by Alexandre Chartogne, who formerly worked under Anselme Selosse. After returning to his family estate back in 2006, Alexandre began experimenting with various vinification vessels, including concrete eggs and amphorae. All of Chartogne-Taillet’s hectares (11.68) are farmed organically (uncertified). ‘Les Barres’ is made entirely from Pinot Meunier and was the estate’s first single-vineyard bottling. The wine is marked by flavors of green apple, citrus, wet rocks, and chalk. Food-friendly and fresh, this bottle is sure to carry you throughout any lengthy meal.
