Étienne Julien is the fourth-generation of his family to run this historic estate and fearlessly bringing a fresh take on winemaking to the table, starting with his vines. Upon taking over, he immediately began taking a more organic approach to farming, now leading the vineyard in a strict “lutte raisonnée” farming method to control pests naturally. Fruit for this textured and earth-driven Pinot Noir comes from eight different parcels across the Côte de Nuits. Notes of red cherries, cassis, wild herbs, and damp earth dominate the wine’s savory palate. Domaine Julien destems all of the fruit for this cuvée and ages the juice for 24 months in barrels (50% new).
